WATERSMART GARDEN

In conjunction with landscape architects Taylor Cullity Lethlean, DLD were contracted to develop a masterplan and Interpretive design for the Watersmart Garden, a Conservation Precinct at Werribee Zoo.

The Garden aims to educate the wider community about how they can be watersmart at home and in their garden.

Interpretive signage leads visitors through a number of rooms exploring a range of garden types, focussing on conserving and collecting water, each framed by rusting steel screens perforated with rain patterns. Engaging, robust interpretation is integrated with minimal built form.

Visitors are taken to the Wetlands boardwalk, where beautiful bronze, half-hidden creatures, created by Perrin Sculpture Foundry, delight and surprise.
