SCULPTURE SURVEY 2012

The biennial McClelland Sculpture Survey & Award is the most important outdoor sculpture exhibition in Australia, with 35 works displayed throughout a bushland setting.

The major comprehensive catalogue is an important documentation of this prestigious prize, with both the exhibition and catalogue being significant for the development, appreciation and promotion of sculpture. The identity and format of the catalogue therefore required special treatment and stock selection to make it stand apart in the market.

The identity design built upon the identity established for the event in 2010, with a new colour palette and graphic elements to further enhance the design.

The 124pp publication showcases the 35 finalists, including the winner Greg Johns and his work At the centre (There is nothing), as well as all the Survey finalists’ works and biographies, essays and exhibition information. Typographic treatment reflected the recent brand re-fresh for the Gallery, and offers an easy-to-read contemporary layout.

Full colour black and white textural images throughout the catalogue highlight the range of materials used in today’s sculptural world, as well as the McClelland sculptural trail. (Photography by John Gollings)

The red and black theme is carried across all event collateral including signage, flags and banners.
